The Lakers team was first created back in 1944 when Morris Chalfen and Ben Berger decided that they were going to purchase the Detroit Gems (a part of the National Basketball League) for a total of . Because the Gems had the worst record of all the teams in the NBL – the Lakers were able to be the first to pick out the players they needed from the 1947 dispersal draft from the Professional Basketball League of America. From this draft they chose George Mikan who later in life became one of the basketball’s greatest center. Nba Playoff Tickets – Magic Will Be A Serious Challenge For Cavs, Rest Of East

While everybody in the league continues to be enamored with LeBron James’ incredible season (and rightly so), the defending Eastern Conference champion the Orlando Magic will be anything but an easy out in the postseason.  Backed by dominant big man Dwight Howard, the Magic have a deep and talented roster of both young and veteran players – a formula for success come playoff time.

Adding scorers like Vince Carter to the squad for this season, who can still score in bunches when he gets it going, the Magic are an even stronger team than that which took out that Cavs a season ago.  Either way, NBA Playoff tickets will be highly valued moving into the playoffs, considering the level of talent leading the Western and Eastern conferences.

Though the Magic lost in the NBA Finals a season ago to the stacked Los Angeles Lakers, the Magic were still a dominant team that proved up to the task of taking down the No. 1-seeded Cavs.  But instead of becoming

Magic Johnson ? Basketball Player And Entrepreneur

Magic Johnson once said: “If you’re a competitive person that stays with you”.  Magic Johnson Enterprises was founded more than two decades ago and has partnerships with several companies. Magic Johnson Enterprises is a private company that owns or helps operate companies ranging from more than a dozen 24 Hour Fitness centers, more than 100 Starbucks locations and food service companies. Magic Johnson Enterprises’ capital management business, for instance, raised, but didn’t deploy, billion last year.

Johnson also announced his retirement from basketball but returned in 1992 and again in 1996.  Magic Johnson is famous for leading the Los Angeles Lakers to five National Basketball Association championships in the 1980s and for his ongoing rivalry and friendship with Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird.  Even if you didn’t follow pro sports, you knew Magic, whose last name, like Michael’s and Larry’s, was superfluous and was a part of the holy triumvirate

Nba History: Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers joined the NBA in 1970 as an expansion team.  They struggled coming out the gate, finishing a league worse 15-67 in their inaugural season.  The team slowly improved over the years, becoming a winning team in the 1975-76 season under coach Bill Fitch.  They finished with a record of 49-33, good enough for the division title and their first playoff appearance.  They would advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they would lose to the eventual champion Boston Celtics.

The Cavaliers spent the next two seasons as a semi-competitive team, making the playoffs both years.  They would lose in the first round in each year.  The following season, the Cavaliers went 30-52 in what would be Bill Fitch’s last with the team.

In 1980, disaster came to the team in the form of new owner Ted Stepien.  Stepien was involved with many poor trades and signings. Many of his trades involved giving away first round draft picks.  The NBA

See More Kobe With Satellite Tv

The retirement of Michael Jordan from the NBA in 1998 left basketball fans wondering who to turn to for breathtaking dunks and game-winning shots. The title of “the next MJ” has been bestowed on countless players since Jordan’s departure, but for one reason or another, most of them did not live up to the expectations. Luckily, a scrawny 18 year old stepped into the spotlight and provided the star power and other-worldly abilities the league was looking for. Long-recognized by fellow players and fans as the premier player on the planet, Kobe Bryant not only welcomed the challenge of trying to fill Jordan’s shoes, but has been able to step out of MJ’s shadow and establish himself as one of the game’s all-time greats.

Born in the U.S., but spending the majority of his childhood in Italy, Kobe grew up playing many sports, but showed a passion for basketball at a very young age. Kobe entered the NBA straight out of high school and played his first game for the Los

Odds To Win The 2010 Nba Championship

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who compiled the best regular season record in the NBA, are the +125 betting favorites at online sportsbooks to win in NBA championship odds. With that record and the game’s biggest name in LeBron James, it’s easy to understand why the Cavaliers are the public choice. The Los Angeles Lakers have opened at +155 to repeat as NBA World Champions. The Lakers are always a popular choice with the general gambling public and that has combined with their actual ability to make them a betting favorite.

Last year’s Eastern Conference Champion, Orlando Magic, are open at +500 at online sportsbooks. Orlando gave Cleveland and gamblers a stunning lesson in the theory of a “sure thing” when the pulled off a stunning upset win in their series against the Cavs. The Magic will be without the surprise element this year. A trio of teams are next to win the NBA World Championship at sportsbooks. The Boston Celtics +1200, Dallas Mavericks

Nba Playoffs: Cavaliers 1-2 Favorites To Win The Eastern Conference

The Cleveland Cavaliers have opened at online sportsbooks as big money 1-2 betting favorites to win the Eastern Conference in the 2010 NBA playoffs. The Orlando Magic are the next choice at 10-3, followed by the Boston Celtics at 6-1. The Atlanta Hawks were the mid-level choice at 10-1. Eastern Conference longshots begin with the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks at 40-1 in NBA playoffs odds, the Toronto Raptors at 60-1, the Charlotte Bobcats at 65-1 and the Chicago Bulls at 100-1. Cleveland had the best record in the NBA this year at 61-20 and will be the top seed in the East.

Their status as the top team in the conference along with having the biggest name in the game, 2009 NBA MVP LeBron James, served to drive down their value, however they made the pay-off in just 37 games. Cleveland is a “public” team that will clean out gamblers often because their value has been decimated. Last year has not been forgotten when the Cavaliers were the huge

Top 20 Cleveland Cavaliers: #20 Wally Szczerbiak

Starting off our countdown of the greatest Cavaliers ever, is none other than Wally Szczerbiak.  Wally was born in Madrid, Spain.  He spent almost all of his youth in Europe, as his dad was a professional basketball player for Real Madrid.  After his dad retired, he moved the family to New York.  Wally was a grade-A high school baller, and was recruited by Division 1 Miami of Ohio to continue his basketball career.

Wally was a man possessed at Miami, leading a team of relative scrubs to the NCAA’s Sweet 16 in 1999 as a 10 seed.  In their first round upset of #7 Washington, Wally unloaded for a career high 43 points.  After that they upset #2 Utah; he scored 24 points and led the Redhawks to the Sweet 16.  Meanwhile, he was named a first team All-American and MAC player of the year in 98-99.  He finished his career as Miami’s 2nd all-time leading scorer.

After his solid college campaign, Wally was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves

Bugs Bunny

History

The unnamed, prototype Warner Bros. rabbit

Main article: Evolution of Bugs Bunny

An unnamed rabbit bearing some of the personality, if not physical characteristics of Bugs, first appeared in the cartoon short Porky’s Hare Hunt, released on April 30, 1938. Co-directed by Ben Hardaway and an uncredited Cal Dalton (who was responsible for the initial design of the rabbit), this short had a theme almost identical to that of the 1937 cartoon, Porky’s Duck Hunt (directed by Tex Avery), which had introduced Daffy Duck. Porky Pig was again cast as a hunter tracking another silly prey who seemed less interested in escape than in driving his pursuer insane; this short replaced the black duck with a small white rabbit. The rabbit introduces himself with the odd expression “Jiggers, fellers”, and Mel Blanc gave the rabbit nearly the voice and laugh that he would later use for Woody Woodpecker. This cartoon also features the famous Groucho Marx line that

Politically Incorrect or Racist?

In case you don’t know, I love sports.

I’ve been a “jock” since I was given my first baseball glove at the age of six.

Baseball, football, hockey, wrestling, gymnastics and martial arts – you name it I’ve played it. I also enjoy watching it and following “my teams”.

For the record, my teams are; The Boston Red Sox, The Boston Celtics, The Boston Bruins and The Oakland Raiders (gotcha!).

I also like The Florida Gators.

But this article isn’t really about sports, per se.

I’m writing this because, in all honesty, I’m not sure how I feel about a semi-related issue.

Let me ask you a question;

Would you support a team called The San Antonio Spics?

How about the Baltimore Blackies or the Detroit Honkies?

Maybe the New Jersey Jews or the Washington Wops?

I think it’s a fair assumption to say that most rational people would find these mascot names offensive, or, at the very least,
